Our Mission

To empower historically underserved youth, using bicycles to foster economic and social mobility, develop social and emotional wellbeing, and encourage a sense of fun and adventure.

what we do

Lucky to Ride is dedicated to giving underserved and at-risk youth the opportunity to experience and learn about the natural beauty of Colorado from the seat of a mountain bike. Through our various programs, we strive to give children the chance to see a different side of Colorado, to expand their understanding of what they can achieve, and to make personal connections with the natural world.

who we are

We are an organization of cyclists, educators, and community leaders who believe we can make an unquestionable difference in the lives of children. We work with all parts of the community—government agencies, schools, non-profit organizations, community volunteers, corporations, and dedicated board members to provide unique programming for at-risk and underserved youth in the Denver Metro area.

who we serve

We serve at-risk and underserved youth, ages 8-20, in the Denver Metro area. Most of the kids that participate in our programs come through our partnerships with local non-profit youth organizations and schools. We are always looking to expand our reach and welcome the opportunity to partner with new organizations looking for experiential and transformative programs to supplement their current activities. We believe all kids should have the chance to experience the great outdoors and the thrill of riding.

our inspiration

Lucky to Ride is a member of Trips for Kids, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Marin County, California. Founded in 1988 and now operating in over 75 locations throughout the United States, Canada and Israel, Trips for Kids (TFK®) has opened the world of cycling to over 100,000 at-risk youth through guided mountain bike rides, job training and earn a bike programs.

All TFK chapters, modeled on the foundation of the original TFK Marin program, are managed and operated independently at the local level but share a common goal. Their mission is to provide transformative cycling experiences that promote healthy recreational lifestyles, environmental awareness, and personal empowerment for young people of all communities.
